I am researcher/modeler at Università della Svizzera Italiana, Lugano, Switzerland.
Moreover, I am a PAL in the SysMetEx project (Integrating Modelling of Metabolism and Signalling towards an Application in Microbial Ecology and Biomining) which is a part of the ERASysAPP (ERA-Net for Systems Biology Applications).
My main research is centered on modelling biological networks. In particular, I am interested in developing and applying computational tools and experiment-oriented simulations to better understand and potentially predict cancer resistance to drugs. In our studies, I mainly focus on the metastasis promoter protein S100A4 as well as the ROS1 and ALK tyrosine kinases.
Additionally, I have a strong interest in modelling of mixed microbial communities. In these research projects, we retrieve raw information about gene regulatory processes by analyzing next generation sequencing data (NGS) that we then reverse-engineer into biological networks. This allows us to access information about microbial life (gene regulation as well as the mechanism of adaptation) in different conditions.
