Webinars |Matthew Pocock
Dr Matthew Pocock has been part of the SBOL community since about 2010, including as a stint as an editor. His research interests include synthetic biology, knowledge integration and community standards development. Recently, Matthew has been stepping back from accademia to focus upon sculpting in stone and letter cutting.
July 2017, Pre-Recorded : “ShortBOL: A shorthand for synthetic biology design”.
Synthetic biology is a field that seeks to apply the methodologies of engineering to the design of living systems. In moving from boutique genetic engineering and metabolic optimisation towards a more rigorous engineering process, the exchange of design specifications becomes critical for collaboration, reproducibility and academic publication. SBOL is a data standard that is addressing these needs. This talk presents the context for the development of SBOL, and a tour of some of the supporting technologies, with an eye to where it may go in the future.
